Hello all,
I am new to this tribe. After having my 2nd henna tattoo I've taken an interest in learning to henna other people and myself.
I'm looking to purchase henna and some applicator bottles, preferably online.

Any recommendations for good vendors out there that sell good henna that stains?
Also, I'm seeing a lot of different types of henna, Jamila, Rajasthani, etc.
Can someone tell me about them?

Thanks!
~Zafira

Here are the details about the Henna classes and the Artist we have coming!

Goddess Mychele
Mychele, unbeknownst to her, began her henna training as a young girl getting in trouble for doodling on herself with pens and markers. Many years later, when she saw henna for the first time on a troupe of belly dancers, the magical connection was made. Her love of henna has taken her all over the United States learning and teaching the art of henna and its history, as well as creating her special recipe that is made with all natural ingredients and pure essential oils. Mychele has been commissioned and fashioned her creative henna designs on hundreds of pa-trons at the House of Blues, Walt Disney World, Gaylord Palms, The Peabody, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure and Sea World Orlando. She has also toured from coast to coast with Simon d'Tour Live. Her specialty is in using henna to create an experience which includes re-laxation and stress relief through aromatherapy, life coaching, positive energy exchange (which she calls "Henergy"), symbolic designs for health and healing, and making and using only her own henna for her clients. Mychele's ability to combine henna with her in depth knowledge of belly dancing, acting and stage make-up, has made her a favorite henna artist throughout the belly dancing community. Because she understands the unique needs of a performer, Mychele has become an expert at creating customized designs that capture the performers personality while enhancing their costumes, a spectacular combination. Along with many local and regional belly dancers, Mychele has also been honored to be commissioned to create her henna designs for Carolina Nericcio of Fat Chance Belly Dance, Belly Dance Superstar Rachel Brice, Megha Gavin of Devyani Dance and Zymirrah of Urban Gypsy. She approaches her workshops with the same passion and positive energy, a powerful combination not to be missed. You can visit her on the web and experience the beauty of her henna artwork at : http://goddesshenna.com/

I am trying to go into business for myself and have started up my website threeravenshenna.wordpress.com. If you get a chance have a look and tell me what you think. I have only just started to document my work, so sadly I only have two images in my gallery page at this point, but more will come soon. :)

Hi everyone,

I know I have been out of the loop for sometime, but things got really busy in my life and had to take a step back.
Was wondering if there is anyone out there in the Tucson area that currently does Henna? I am looking at doing some parties in the area and was wondering if I could network with someone in the area. As I find it is easier to have back up henna artist to help out with large parties or even to pass on work if I happen to be booked. Contact me soon as I am looking to arrive back over in Tucson for good in the middle of April.
Blessings

Newbie Artist-- Charging at a Fest?

Hi all! Just found this tribe, can't believe I didn't see it months ago.

So... I've been doing henna for seven or eight years. Nothing fancy, just drawing on myself and anyone else I could talk into it (thank goodness I have kids!). I'm fairly decent at it, I like to think. My lines are small (when they need to be) and my hand is fairly steady. Anyhoo...

I'm part of a tribal bellydance troupe, and each year we perform at a small festival (it's Pumpkin Fest. Because pumpkins just make you think of bellydance, right?) where there's a "Gypsy Bazaar." My teacher organizes the whole thing, and she asked me today if I'd like to do henna at the Fest because her usual artist(s) can't make it. I said I'd think about it.

Now, I in no way believe I'm ready to do henna as an actual profession. I can't do huge, amazing freehand designs. But this thing is a one-time-deal, in a very small town, for an audience who will probably have little experience with a "real" artist (and if they came last year, well, I'll put a sign up stating I'm still learning, or something).

Here's my thoughts on this, so please let me know if you think I'm being reasonable.

I'm allowed to charge, but I doubt I'll charge too much. To make the process easier for me, I plan to draw out a series of designs, priced differently according to size/complexity. I'll then make several tracing-paper-transfers and stash them aside, labeled with a number. That way, people can choose what they want, but I won't have to be prepared for an endless variety of options. (Did I mention this event is happening October 4th?) It'll also help me with getting the designs closer to perfect, and speed up the process. I don't know what I'll charge yet, other than "not a lot." I may do it on the donation-if-you-like-it system.

Is this a good idea-- both my plan specifically and the entire idea of a not-perfect artist showing up to do henna? Apparently my teacher (who has been hanging around henna artists for a while now) thinks I'm decent enough to step up to the challenge. Also, any advice? I plan on making some signs if I do this, including a "do not get henna if you have any of these medical problems" sign using the info from Tap Dancing Lizard.

Thanks much.

Henna & Nurses

I have a few friends that are nurses. When I very first started to play with henna one of them mentioned she couldn't have any on her hands, so we did her chest & feet. She said it was a company rule & we talked about whether or not it might affect a patient medically.

I was just curious now cause I did some on another hospital friend.... could / would / has it affected people under certain medical conditions. I can't imagine it would being that the henna dyes the skin and doesn't "rub" off allowing it to soak into the blood stream.

Odd question but like I said, just curious if anyone had some experience with that.

This would be a reoccurring gig depending on skill, I am looking to have some henna (no black henna or anything crazy like that please) and I am pasty pasty white in skin tone so it isn't really something that shows up on me pigment wise (so more skill with not having it come out yellow, awesome!)

Also non-trad, but traditional in another culture, Native American beauty marks and bands.

A big mess!

Is there a secret to getting the henna paste into the bottles and down to the bottom? I find I am making a huge mess when trying to fill them, and I end up wasting more than what goes in the bottle. I have tried making a tiny clip off the corner of a baggie but the henna doesn't go to the bottom of the bottle, it tends to sit in a glop on top. I ended up with a similar mess when I tried the mylar cone. Thank you.

black "henna" and natural alternatives

As (hopefully) most of you know, many substances marketed as "black henna" are quite dangerous. I read about a natural henna-like plant called jagua that is dark brown to black on the skin. I love the look of black designs and was wondering if anybody had used jagua or any other non-toxic henna alternatives to make temporary tattoos? There is one available online called "Earth Jagua", has anyone used that? I've also read that one could use temporary tattoo inks for designs that would last several days, but I'm not sure where to get that. I love henna but orange isn't my favourite colour for skin designs.

black henna- now i am worried

Two days ago I went to an Indian fair and had black henna done on my hand. The artist told me to leave it on as long as possible and to then add sugar and lemon before washing my hands (FYI the artist and all her friends and children, and a good chunk of the festival's attendees, were sporting black henna, too). It came in a traditional paper tube, had an Indian 'vegetarian suitable' symbol on it, and went on as a very dark green paste. It burnt a little while it dried.

However, it is jet black (was a bit dark green when it came off) and is almost purplish around the edges in certain areas. Could it be PPD? How long before symptoms of PPD poisining appear? Does everyone have an allergic reaction?

Thanks, I am worried, obviously!

Questions from a novice henna user.

Ive been using Temptu skin inks for the last year or so and I like the results doing my hands and feet, and am ready to move up the ladder into real henna. I am little confused about the esential oils. Are they really needed? What the heck is henna oil? Do you add it to the henna mix, or to the skin after the dried henna is removed? I have everything except lemon juice- what else can I use as an acid? Strong black tea? Black Balsamic vinegar? any vinegar? I dont care if its stinky- I live by myself and only have to please me and no one else. I have eugenol/clove oil- is that of any use? These are probably enough questions to start with.

Thanks for any ideas-

I have been contacting local henna artist's to get a quote for henna that I would like done on me when I am 8 months pregnant for a bellydancing event that I am going to. One person that I talked to said that it would be better if I waited until at least 81/2 months before I do a large design on my belly of henna. She said that their could be a risk of a temperature drop and that it might start contractions. She said that she just learned about this issue. Has anyone else heard something like this? I should be fine at 8 months to have henna on my belly right?

Hello Beautiful Dancing Goddesses,

3rd Coast is only a couple days away- YIPPEEEEEEE!!!!! So, in anticipation of all of the fun and excitement that is coming our way, I wanted to let you know a little bit more about the henna that I will be doing so you can decide the best time and way to get your personalized henna done!

HENNA BASICS

*give your henna at least 1 hour to dry...if you haven't got an hour, a half hour will do, if you haven't got a half hour then God bless you! (thank you for anyone who got my warped little Christmas song reference! I will definitely want to meet YOU! lol) Okay, but now I'll be serious, at least an hour is BEST, longer is better, but I can work in your time frame...I'm cool like that. (the longer you leave your henna on, the darker it will get and the longer it will last.)

*if you are going into a dance class soon after getting your henna, bring a bottle of NuSkin which is a liquid bandage that you can get at the drug store. Make sure to purchase the SPRAY kind, not the one with the brush. I will not be suppling this, so bring your own if you want your henna to stay on longer to get really super dark.

*I will be able to wrap your henna in a more traditional way if you are not dancing. This will also help to get you a kick ass color that will be rich and deep. You don't need to bring anything to do it like this.

*Even if you can only leave your henna on for an hour, you will still get a good color and darkness.

*Are you planning on going in the hot tub or pool after you get henna? Bring VASELINE!!!!!! I can't stress this enough, the chlorine will take your henna right off. The Vaseline will help to "waterproof" it and protect it.

*Henna designs can take anywhere from 5 minutes to hours to do...it all depends on what you are wanting...plan your time accordingly. I can help you with this, just email me and we'll figure out what will work best for you...remember, it's ALL about YOU this weekend!!!!!!!

HENNA APPLICATION OPTIONS

Here's the fun part, there are a couple of ways to get your henna done for 3rd coast, pick which one works best for you, email me to set up your appointment and Voila, you'll get beautiful Heavenly Henna designed just for you...remember, space is limited for all of these options, so register early!

1. in your room. I have appointments available for Thursday evening and there may be other times available during the weekend, email for details. This is an ideal place to have henna done if you want to do a henna party with your friends, you want henna done in a special place or you just want some quiet time for yourself.

2. At the theatre...I will be the roving henna artist for 3rd coast...you never know what corner you'll see me in! I may even be making an occasional guest appearance on the stage! When you register, there will be a sign in sheet at the front where you can select a time/day for your personal henna design. Or email me to get first pick!

3. Sign up for one of the 2 henna classes being offered! Friday, 1pm Beginners Henna- - - - - - - - Saturday, 2pm Intermediate Henna

4. If you can't make the class time, but want to learn how to do henna, contact me for information on a private henna class for you.

I think I covered it all, but if you have any questions, let me know!!!!!!! I am looking forward to meeting you all and having a super duper fun weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have recently done henna on some friends and then done myself with the same mix right afterwards. It stains my friend very well and dark. It barely stains me. My hands are clean, ect. This is so unusual because it normally stains very dark on me. I don't know what's going on!

SLC Henna Artist for party?

I love Henna, but I'm still new to it. I was wondering if there was someone (or multiple someones) who are located in the Salt Lake City area who would do Henna for a bachelorette party near the end of this month. We'd be willing to pay of course. If anyone could refer me to someone who does it, that would be great, too. I don't really know where to look, so I thought of here.
Thanks!

Sick of the henna on the hair

So I've been hennaing my hair for...several years. Inevitably its gotten darker, and darker, and darker...and now its just downright garnet. Pretty in the sun but very fake looking, a totally different color at the roots than the tips (yeah I know, I didn't do root touch-ups properly, my fault)...

My plan right now is to wean off the henna by using 24-wash temporary red dye to touch up the roots and grow the garnet stuff out.

BUT I've heard that henna and chemical dye don't get along. I don't know how, turn your hair green or somesuch. Ofcourse I'm going to do a lock test first but....

Anyone have problems with weaning your hair off of henna? Mixing henna with dye? Before I've layered black dye over the henna without an issue, but I'd like some case studies...pretty please.

I first laid eyes on Henna in 1998 when I saw the movie "The Replacement Killers". Mira Sorvino had her hands beautified with Henna and I was awed and intrigued by it. I researched and learn to make it myself........lots of trial and error. I never really achieved the dark stain I've always wanted and it would disappear within a few days. In the last 9 years I’ve been hennaed by different artists, bought henna on-line and in several different Indian grocery stores and STILL no DARK DARK stain……until (drum roll) I ordered fresh mixed henna paste from Henna Caravan. HOLY MAMA is their Henna dark! I did it last week and it’s STILL on and STILL dark!

I really just wanted to post this topic to rave about Henna Caravan and to give them a BIG THANK YOU. THANK YOU for making the henna I’ve been looking for these past 9 years! Love you guys.

I'd been using toothpaste in cones to practice designs on my skin, but it was such a mess to remove! I switched to cheap thick lotion, which works much better!

Also, I recently purchased some great design e-books and have been putting the design pages inside clear acrylic page protectors and drawing on those with the lotion cones to practice the more complicated designs.

Maybe this will help other artistically-challenged newbies like myself. :)

Hi everyone,

I'm at the point where my sweet little kickass job isn't quite paying enough to get me through the month. My partner is suggesting that I start charging people to do henna, to put up flyers, etc, advirtising myself. I'm a little shy when it comes to things like this, and I wouldn't know what to ask for in exchange for henna-ing people.

So for those of you who generate an income from it, how did you start? What steps do you suggest I take? And what do you charge?

Thanks!
Satya

Spiritual Sexual Predator

An open response to Tantric M (people.tribe.net/894389d7-...dfb363dc1)

Let me tell you a story about me and LilShadow, the woman you called a liar on the Burningman Tribe (bm.tribe.net/thread/a6c9...6a77591132b)

It's in our Testimonials to each other.
I asked her to be a friend.. She said no. I accepted that. I didn't ask again and again. I respect women. Hell...I respect people!
We met on the Playa, held hands, and drank blood together.
We have been fast friends ever since. Walking each other through some seriously tough times, laughing and sharing the good. Talking on the phone at least once a month ever since.
She is an Angel!
One thing she has never done is lie. To me, or to anyone I know.

You questioned the integrity of a good woman. That was your first mistake.
Your second was picking on someone that you thought was weak.

Since then, I have been contacted by other women that you have preyed on.
One has only to look at some of the degrading photo's of women, of seriously sick Porn mixed in with 'Prayer Wheels' to see your character.
Personally...I think you are a new phenomenon.
The 'Spiritual Sexual Predator'.
I just evicted one from the Ranch I'm on. (See my Blog)((people.tribe.net/kamikazek...comments)) He, like you, was pathetic. Spouting New Age buzz words as a self described 'Enlightened Master' while eating our food, not working, and hitting on jail bait.
Every woman felt creeped out (like the women on Tribe I've talked to) 'hit on' by a dirty old Hippy.
Sound familiar??
Many women have come to me with tales of you.
Your actions speak much louder than your words.
Your past is verified by several independent sources.
Abuse has been notified.
If any other women than the 8 tonite who have contacted me want to speak to this issue, an issue (in my opinion) of a 'Spiritual Sexual Predator', please band together, speak out, and notify abuse at
www.abuse@tribe.net
KK
ps
I intend to cross post this on every Tribe that Tantric M subscribes to. If it gets me kicked off Tribe...so be it.
My intentions are as if I were a Father watching out for my Daughter.

Types of henna?

Okay help me out here. I've dyed my hair with red henna and used it on my hands a lot. But there are loads of things I hear about black henna. I once got black henna on a fair, and I'm sure that was the dangerous stuff, my hand was black instantly. Now I got another stuff, that looks just like normal red henna only a bit darker and on my hands it just turns light greyish blue.
And I heard about Indigo, but looking at a website about Indigo they talk about chrystals? But the black henna I got and I thought it was Indigo, aren't chrystals?
So what is it? And how to handle the stuff I got, the just darker then normal red henna?

I was wondering what the diffrence between red henna and green henna is?

I am also looking for a good place in the bay area (east bay maybe) where I can buy henna that for sure doesn't have green dye in it. I was reading about how sometimes green dye is added to the powered henna to make it look more green and it freaked me out alittle.

Doing Your Own Body?

Forgive me if these questions have already been covered, but I couldn't find anything in the archives.

Is it possible to successfully henna your own navel area? Sides of the waist? Upper armbands? Do you work with a mirror or just bend around? So far, my experiments with toothpaste have been disappointing. Do I just need more practice?

Also, assuming I can eventually do a design I really like, can I safely continue to re-henna over the same design to keep it looking good? A friend of mine has a beautiful permanent tattoo in henna color but I'm not willing to get a permanent tattoo -- which is why I'm here. :)

And in case practice doesn't make perfect, are there any henna artists in Colorado Springs, Colorado?

Thanks for any advice. I appreciate all the information I've gotten here already.

approaches for wedding henna

Hello everyone,

I've been given the great honor of doing some wedding henna for a friend and am looking for some inspiration and direction/method.. She wants her hands and feet done, Indian-inspired but not too ornate. I have many many henna books and am looking for a fresh look at this.. A little advice on my approach would be very much appreciated!

First, direction/method:
Sketch beforehand, determine the overall shape (or silhouette, if you will) of the designs
Draw the main borders (for me, to keep the symmetry) and fill in w/motifs afterward?

Second, inspiration:
Does anyone have any book references (besides Navneet books) that are their favorite for wedding henna? Any that are floral/organic and not overly busy?

I'm experienced, but admittedly nervous. I want to do a beautiful job, most importantly!

Thanks so much for any words of wisdom.. I truly appreciate it!

SO after a long time desire to try it and a brief introduction class I finally did my first henna last weekend. I had always loved the way it looked and been interested in trying it but I think the mixing really kept me away. Everything I've read always made it sound like a very daunting process. The most alluring part in my mind, the actual application of the henna, was bookended by a perplexing preperation process and a complicated dabbing and wrapping ritual. :) Well to my suprise it can be soooo much easier. I hope I don't get too many sneers from the pros but I learned that you can just add Coke to the powder instead of all of the water/sugar/oils since it approximates them and you don't even need to wrap it, just let it dry and flake off. I'm sure some purists might gasp in horror but it was for a group of 11 year old girls at a birthday party so it was a forgiving crowd. We got great results on all of them except one who just didn't get as good a color as the rest. I'm sure it won't last too long but they enjoyed it and it got me over the hump so I feel like I can keep trying and even learn the "proper" methods down the road. I will say I was AMAZED at how far the paste went. We had roughly a half a cup of paste and all 5 girls, one little brother, 2 big brothers, a mom and an aunt all got 3-5 tattoos. And we still had about half left!!! It was really great!

I want to dye my hair with Henna again, it's been 6 months since the last time I dyed it. Do you guys think the chlorine from the pool will interact with the henna??? Or am I safe to dye it again???

Just finger tips...

Hey, I enjoy using henna on a regular basis and for traditional purposes, so I usually just do my finger tips.
Is there an easy way to just get my finger tips stained?

I usually sit and meticulously apply to my nails and down to my first knuckle, with a mylar cone or a large flat food pick. This is time consuming and not always the best results... I end up going back and filling in odd places that weren't in contact with the henna, I guess.

I've tried "dipping" my fingers in, just to the first knuckle wrinkle, but this isn't as easy as it sounds unless the henna is really loose.... and loose henna doesn't stain as well for me.

Is there a trick that I am missing? Do I just need more practice at this? And what about the soles of my feet? The whole sole?

Thanks!

Is there anyone interested in working a festival in Fort Worth the first week of January 2007 - Thursday the 4th> Sunday the 7th. Details on the festival are here http://www.urbangypsy.cc/3rdCoast.html

We have some of the top names in tribal style bellydance coming... it will be well attended. It is a good opportunity for the right artist to get their work seen and make some $$.

Tribe message me if you are interesed!

Don't live near Fort Worth? There are some great airfares into DFW out there right now....

A bit about me. I started doing henna about 6 years ago, and if I didn't slack off I'd be really good now!! I'm just getting back into it so dove full force into doing research on the web. I found this tribe in a bass-ackward way. I wanted to see how "legitimate" the ICNHA was and I came across your posts from 2004 (jiving with the transfer of HP to new ownership). So, since I got an interesting other opinion, I thought I'd join. Please don't hate me for the way I came here!!! I hope to learn lots and actually get decent in this art form.

In June I started belly danicng and I had my eye on Henna tattooing way before that. I did not get my starter kit yet but I got my own blank journal and started drawing (I am very good drawing) and sketching some designs, some from different designs I saw online, slowly designing my own. I want to do the cross over and do the real thing soon, which is the best way to get a starting kit? Any recommendations?

Greetings! i'm new on this list, but have been doing henna for about 5 years now. i'm not an artist by any means, but i enjoy sitting around doing some henna on folks that play in the SCA. anyway, i use yemen henna and its wonderful, but i recently recieved an email from my distributor for some yemeni Khidab, which is a black dye uses much the same way as henna. i've done some research on it but not much out there. my biggest question is how safe is it for pregnat ladies or ladies that want to get pregnant. its pretty pricy so i was going to order a small amount of it to try it out. i guess it is technically black, but it isnt henna....anyone have any experience with this stuff? you can check out some pics from here...

greetings-- i love henna!!- i mostly do it for myself but i also embrace the opportunity to henna pregnant ladies bellies usually just before their blessingway-- i have been doing this for a long time now - it always amazes me how the henna responds to each baby and the designs that come forth-- first i have them come and just lay down with a cup of tea (not too much liquids or they will be getting up to pee alot) and then i invoke the hemma spirit- i feel the babies position and then off we go-- then the next day i go over the pattern again- i find 1 application not enough and 2 makes a huge difference!! i have pics maybe i can figure out how to post them--- anybody else out there?? any tricks of the trade?? oh-it is amazing to feel these babies respond - lots of movement!!- they can feel it!!

Pros and Cons on Freezing Henna

I have been reading many different texts on the process of making Henna. I am somewhat new to this (1year) and I was under the impression that Henna loses it staining properties when it is frozen and then thawed.
Wouldn't the Henna be more thinned and running when thawed?
If I could get some feedback on this it would be well appreciated.

I'm hoping to make connection with more experienced experts who live in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area (I live in St. Paul), hoping to find a way to learn (I perfer learning from people vs. a book). Anyone here from the Twin Cities?

Hi Everybody!
I've always heard about tribe.net but this is the first time I've actually come around here. I see a lot of familiar faces which is cool .. another place to talk about henna and procrastinate on calculus, whoo!

For anyone who doesn't know me already, I'm Carly Wilson and have been doing henna for about 2 years in Seattle. I'm moving to Australia in a few weeks and will be exploring the henna scene down there which I'm sooo looking forward to. If anyone here knows any of Australian henna artists (they are a rare rare thing), I'd love to meet them. I'm organizing a henna gathering near Sydney .. you all are welcome. Her'es my site:
http://www.andante.smugmug.com/
Thanks Everyone :)

Hello everyone!

I'm "technically" new to this tribe, tho I've been reading everyone's posts the last age or two.

I have a question for you all! I *just* found out I got a job doing henna at a busy spa over the summer. I've been doing henna for about two years now, non-professionally (all my friends basically), and was wondering if any of you had any tips for the "new girl"? I'm sure after the first weekend my hand will cramp so much it will threaten to leave me (jaquard bottles), but as far as tips on dealing with a mass clientele, tips on mixing for different age groups, tips on ANYTHING really, would be most appreciated.

^_^
Thanks and stay fabulous!

Ok, so far I've only practiced henna on myself. All the trials and errors are kinda gettin' me frustrated. I think I have the formula down for mixing. But how would you reccomend sealing it? I tried the lemon juice and water...not my favorite. I bought some Elmer's glue and some glitter....now my question is how much water do you add? And how do you apply it over the henna? And how do you wash it off? I have a henna party this weekend with some fellow bellydancers and I want to seem like I know what I'm doing! Any personal experience would be greatly appreciated!

in relation to art...

...as in, ARTHRITIS

I recently started having some joint pain in my fingers, along with some mild swelling... usually when I've had a long day in my garden, pulling weeds and such. (It isn't rheumatoid arthritis cuz I did the blood tests for that... it's the other one... can't recall the name now)

Anyhow, I use henna regularly on the palms of my hands and soles of my feet... whether a pretty design (time allotted) or just a nice solid cover... makes me feel 'better' and decorated all at once. Soooo... I started thinking about the medicinal properties in it and decided to elaborately decorate my one digit that was giving me the 'blues' and guess what?? IT WORKED!!! The henna design had very bold and dramatic lines so it covered a good part of my whole middle knuckle (where the pain focuses) and then extended out over my finger to the tip and back up over my hand to my wrist.... I felt relief almost immediately.

This could all be in my head.... but hey! the power to heal is in some of our heads and hearts anyhow... just depends on WHO you believe in.

Just thought I'd share. :o)

Peace and health,
A

Has anyone on here ever added salt to his / her paste? It seems like it would be a relatively benign ingredient, but I haven't heard of anyone using it, so I was wondering if there's a reason no one uses it. If anyone has any insight into this, I'd love to know!

I love the look of henna, the color, designs, and meaning. I want to incoporate a henna design as a tattoo for a family tree but, alas, I am no artist though. Is there anyone out there in the world of tribe that may help me out or maybe create a design for me?

I had heard someone say they were having problems getting a replyto their mails, shipping was slowing down, etc. But they have good prices and everything I need in one place, rather than having to get this here and that there, etc. Anyone order from them lately?

Making a cone...

Hello All~

Thank you for all the website suggestions. Today I received 30g of Jamila henna powder in the mail and am going to start the mixing tonight. I want to make a cone to apply the henna powder. I've read about a bunch of different materials suggested for the cone, different types of paper, plastic bags, etc.

Any tips or tricks?

many thanks and blessings, Gina

Hello All~

I'd like to request suggestions of websites or other sources where this henna newbie can learn all the basics of this beautiful art. Maybe a recipe for making the ink, if one can make one's own?

Many thanks and many blessings, Gina
