Okay help me out here. I've dyed my hair with red henna and used it on my hands a lot. But there are loads of things I hear about black henna. I once got black henna on a fair, and I'm sure that was the dangerous stuff, my hand was black instantly. Now I got another stuff, that looks just like normal red henna only a bit darker and on my hands it just turns light greyish blue.
And I heard about Indigo, but looking at a website about Indigo they talk about chrystals? But the black henna I got and I thought it was Indigo, aren't chrystals?
So what is it? And how to handle the stuff I got, the just darker then normal red henna?

Re: Types of henna?
Wed, June 20, 2007 - 11:55 AMI'm fairly new to the world of henna, but one of the best resources I've found is www.hennapage.com. If you haven't already checked it out, there is LOTS of information, as well as very active forums (one for hair, one for body art) for getting questions answered.

Re: Types of henna?
Wed, June 20, 2007 - 12:54 PMHenna is only ever reddish brown in color. There is a lot of variation from light brown to almost dark chocolate, black cherry, nearly black.
But you can only achieve that color with long henna time on the skin-overnight and or heat/steam applications.
It sounds like you have something else besides henna. Is it jaqua?
it will be a greyish blue.
Where did you purchase this product?
It is really best to stay with reputable suppliers so you know what you are buying is really safe and natural red/brown henna.
We are a supplier , and are also listed on the henna page supplier list.
Good luck in figuring out what you purchased.
stay safe

Re: Types of henna?
Wed, June 20, 2007 - 11:52 PMThe product is from a brand named Jacob Hooy a well known supplier of herbs and spices and is sold in "reform winkels" I don't know the stranslation but those stores sell mostly biological product and products for people with allergies. So not a store where you would expect something bad for you.
