Stains other but not me

topic posted Tue, August 28, 2007 - 7:03 PM by  Red Lotus Henna
I have recently done henna on some friends and then done myself with the same mix right afterwards. It stains my friend very well and dark. It barely stains me. My hands are clean, ect. This is so unusual because it normally stains very dark on me. I don't know what's going on!

    How odd.
Did you have oil/lotion that you had just rubbed into your hands?

I think it's funny how Henna stains differently on different people. It's usually a tan color on my boyfriend when I practice on him, but when I do my own self, it's always super dark brown. Even on our faces. My face gets stained dark, you can't even see anything on his face. And this is always using the same mix, and usually I do him first, so his stays on longer.

    So bizarre.

What's even more wierd was I did this yesterday and nothing stained either my finger or hand but this morning I woke up and my finger was stained but not my hand! Bizarre. no, I didn't have on any oils/lotions.

There are times in your life when you may not get any good stains.
It is great you know the henna you are using is good , but if you are having hormonal issues it may change your staining ability.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding,or stopping breast feeding, all of these may have some bearing on the henna stain.
    Medications will do the same.
There are so many variables it is hard to know what could be the reason. Parafin dip for hands and feet will also create a barrier for henna stain. As will sunscreen and who knows what else.
good luck figuring out this puzzle

I wiped my skin down with alcohol (after a shower) and I stained darker than ever. Maybe I was just dirtier than I thought.

Isn;t it amazing how dirty you can be when you think you are clean?
We have that happen all the time, I will start to clean someone's skin and they say, og I am clean I showered this morning.
They don't realize the lotion theyput on has now collected lots of dust while they were walking around.
Cooking, cleaning and beautifying liquids can all stop or inhibit staining.
It is amazing we get any color at all sometimes.
